Dirty Gangster Dogs: Fresh, Gourmet Hot Dogs with Chicago & New York Flair in Ellicott City

Dirty Gangster Dogs is the bomb. Reminds me of a little place we had in Miami that I loved, but their complex hot dogs are delicious and their ingredients are fresh and tasty! Friendly staff - I only wish there was seating out front!

18 (!) hot dog varieties on the menu at this new location (opened Jun 10, 2025) for Dirty Gangster Dogs, at the other end of the Italian-ice place on Frederick at the corner of St John's. Enough parking in the lot in front and around the side. We got the $8 (i think) Al Capone, a Chicago-ish dog with pepperoni added! Genius! Delicious! It has bright zingy pepperoncini-peppers, mildly hot and slightly sweet. The "mouth-feel" was very lush, a hefty steamed dog loaded with relish, tomato slices, diced onions, and yellow mustard. An excellent fresh flavor combo! Me, speaking as an ex-Chicagoan: These peppers are pretty close but not as brightly hot as the flavor of genuine sport peppers. Alas, no poppy seeds on the bun. It IS the right mustard: regular yellow mustard! I like it! They will customize if you like, with a million toppings on their other dogs :-). A dog comes with chips, and they have sodas including some nice varieties. Good sides, too, like spicy or not chili, and spicy slaw. I got a side of crunchy fresh broccoli slaw with bacon, which i loved. Oh! You can substitute Polock Johnnies for the dog, sometimes they have veggie dogs, and they have a gluten-free bun available. I kinda jostled my takeout, so here's my earlier photo from their Sykesville location because it shows their nice presentation. They have one bench out front. I dont know if Gangster-dog patrons are allowed to use the picnic tables on the far side of the building.

It's about time there's a place to get true chicago and new york style hot dogs. These are terrific! Very fresh ingredients. I had the "Al Capone" and the "Pablo Escobar" very different dogs, but both were excellent.

Today a buddy of mine mentioned this place and sold it well, so we traipsed over half an hour before closing. SO GOOD. Fresh ingredients, prepared quickly and well, for a reasonable price. Anybody can throw a dog in some hot water or on the grill but they do it up legit with generous portions of quality toppings. For a moment, sitting on that bench out front with friends eating a chili dog on a nice afternoon, life was perfect.

Great hot dogs (of several kinds) with a huge variety of toppings. Highly recommend grabbing a fork and spoon because these are overflowing! Most the dogs are gluten free and available in a bowl.

This is a new hotdog place that has opened up next to Rita’s. The hotdogs are good and the prices reasonable! There are many different options to try - we stopped in to try one - even though I’m not a fan of food on a hotdog! But I’m glad I tried it because it was good! We had the hotdog with the spicy chili, jalapeños, and sour cream - it was delicious! My only wish is for seating. The inside is tiny and no room to enjoy your hot dog but in the car.

Soooo good. I got the gman (chorizo dip, cheese, jalapeno and Fritos) and my bf got the Cadillac( mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and bbq). Will be back.
